The junior badminton club is very successful and run by Alison Walker, who for the last 14 years has put in a tremendous amount of work and without her the Club would have surely folded years ago. Every year we are at bursting point with juniors who are eagerly wanting to join, however we can only accept a set number so it goes by first come first served.
The Club is taken and coached by Stephen Ross, a local player who is also an SBU qualifed badminton instructor.
Every Thursday between the hours of 18:00 and 20:00, with primary children between 18:00 and 18:30 and high school students between 18:30 and 20:00.

Many thanks to Ruaridh Stevenson, who did an excellent job of umpiring both finals, adding a professional touch to the competitions (A future S.B.U Umpire in the making?). I would like to point out that the level of sportmanship among our young players was absolutely excellent, throughout the tournament (and year!). Everyone went home with a Christmas selection box. A good night was had by all. Also many thanks to our resident coach Stephen Ross for all his efforts during 2009.

Junior Club Secretary
As we come to the end of our season again. Our young players had a visit from the company Yonex International who sponsor all the major badminton championships. The evening was organised through Dylan Eglestaff, Sales & Promotional executive for Yonex. He also brought along three of our top Scottish Junior players Paul Van-Reitvelde, Angus Gilmour & Martin Campbell Yonex British player of the year & Bronze medalist in last years Commonwealth Junior Games. Our young players had a chance to try their skills against the players and were also able to try out the latest range of rackets from Yonex. We would also like to express our thanks to Brian Gannon (Rapid Repairs) Gullane sports for their support through Yonex.
The last week saw the end of the season for the primary group who finished their season with a fun night. The Junior section end of season competitions are as follows:
Boys Single: Winner: Charles Nurick
Runner up: Stewart Fairbairn

We as a Club would like to express our thanks for the amazing attendance all season both in the primary group and the Junior section, most nights we have had a full house all season, so thank you to all our young players for their great attendance.
I would also like to thank Stephen Ross for his support as coach and also our visiting coach Richard Mitusch, by next season we hope to be in the new High school.

Compared to most other junior clubs Kinross offers competitive prices, and considering what it offers in terms of coaching, it is good value for money.
A membership for the primary children is £10 with a nightly fee of £2 a night, and for a membership at the junior club it is £15, with a nightly fee of £2 per night.
For non members it is £4 a night but your first night is always Free!!!
At the end of every season we offer the high school students the opportunity to take part in a variety of tournaments from boys and girls singles to doubles and mixed doubles with the winners and runners up receiving trophies at the end, with the possibility this year of being presented at the presidents house at an end of season barbeque, however this is still to be decided. This season we are also offering the juniors the opportunity to enter themselves into a league held within the club to add that little extra bit of competition throughout the year.
