The first committee meeting of the new season will be held on a provisional date of Wednsday 27th January 2010. We hope that all Committee members can attend.
The Annual Tournament begins 4th March, this usually includes the following competitions: Gents singles, Ladies singles, Gents doubles, Ladies doubles and mixed doubles. depending on the number of entries into the competition, matches are either knock out, round robin, drawn from lots or through selected partnerships. Players are all given handicaps to make a more balanced competition, with the more experienced players given more of a challenge and less experienced players a better chance of winning matches.
Thursday 17th December brings with it the last night of the badminton year and our final tournament of the year as well. The Macdonald Quaich. The trophy was donated to the club by the club president back in 2003 and is our most popular and fun tournament to date. The tournament itself is open to not only club members but members of the public as well. It is based on a mixed doubles round robin format with a new partnership given after every match meaning you will never play with the same person twice. Each match lasts no longer than 7 minutes or till one side reaches 11 points. The best four players at the end of the night are randomly paired up and put in the final with the winning pair walking away with the trophy and a bottle of whisky. We hope as many players can turn up as previous years with the competition starting at 6:30 pm, however the hall will be available from 6pm. Good luck to all!!!
