Kinross Badminton Club

About the Club

The club started back in 1961 not as a badminton club but as a tennis club, however in 1964 a few rogue players broke away to form the badminton club we know today, and is now one of the oldest registered badminton clubs still going in Scotland to date. The club has two groups, the juniors, which is run by Alison Walker, and the adult club which is run by Bill Macdonald, who even at the age of 74, yes thats right 74!!!, is still a keen and dangerous player around the court.

The adult club normally meets up on a Tuesday and Thursday night between the hours of 20:00 and 21:30, however this changes to only a Thursday night towards the end of the season from April to May. Prices at the club range from £2 a night for members and £5 for non members, however your first night is always FREE! The cost of a membership at the club is £40. Coaching is also available from our local qualified instructor.

The junior club meets every Thursday between 18:00 and 20:00 and is for juniors aged between 12 and16 years. It is run by Alison Walker and coached by Stephen Ross who is a qualified SBU instructor. The junior Club is very successful and is always at breaking point in terms of juniors wanting to join in and unfortunately we can only accept a set number of players so it is run on a first come first served basis. The cost of the junior club is £2 a night for members and £4 for non members, but just like the adult club your first night will be FREE! A membership for the junior club will cost you £15.

Both clubs hold yearly tournaments which are for members only and are held towards the end of each season, with the adult club also holding 2 open tournaments earlier in the year.
